Reflections are thrilled to welcome our new bass player Claude Ducharme. He just joined our band in July 2011 and will certainly compliment Reflections with his many years experience along with his solid recording skills. Born near Montreal, he remembers developing an interest in music at a very early age. He reflects, "My parents told me stories of taking me into nightclubs in the U.S. and me singing and dancing with the entertainers." It was the early 60's, so I guess that was possible back then. I remember seeing the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show and asking my parents to buy me a guitar. They could not get me one fast enough, so I built my own out of scrap lumber and elastic bands. My parents saw that I was serious, so they quickly bought me a real guitar.
My early musical influences were Elvis, The Beatles, The Monkees, Tom Jones and Johnny Cash. Later my tastes greatly diversified and included Uriah Heep, Yes, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, The Who and Rush. These bands moved me to take an interest in the bass guitar. The bassists that have influenced me the most are; Gary Lee Weinrib, Gary Thain, Roger Glover, John Entwistle, Chris Squire, and J.P. Jones. I actively began studying music seriously in 1976 and besides playing the French Horn in high school have played in several bands over the years. Fortunately, I married Denise Edwards in October 1982 and we had two daughters ... that saved my life. I did not play for about 12 years while we raised our family and focused on much more important things. We have had the privilege of being Jehovah's Witnesses since 1991. In 1994, I began playing with some friends that I met through our local congregation in Keswick Ontario and we formed several bands over the years together with various brothers.
Music is something that I will always love, but it is not even close to being the most important thing in my life. I enjoy giving of myself to others freely, as well as spending time with my wife and our family and friends. We enjoy boating, camping, swimming, and golfing together along with wholesome association.
Claude and his wife Denise currently live in North York, Ontario.
